Within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, in the village of West Burton in Wensleydale the Nichols family has been making Moorside Cats since 1982. The cats are modelled in clay and given life and their own names in this tranquil, picturesque place with its magnificent village Green and its hidden waterfall Cauldron Falls below which salmon spawned in 2013-2015. but alas none in 2016 as water conditions were unfavourable. We trust conditions will be favourable this year 2017
Here, since 1982 two generations-people and cats have been involved in the business: Shirley and Barrie Nichols and daughter Sarah alongside the family cats Chloe, Orlando, Zoe, Millie and Tilda, and newcomers Ruby, Alfie and Sophie who have all been models for the ceramic, metallic and granite stone garden cats.
